KIC has been a leader in thermal profiling for decades, but its software had fallen behind in usability and modern standards. Upon joining the team, I was tasked with developing user-facing design documentation and integration strategies to enhance and extend the legacy system. In parallel, I worked closely with a colleague and the software team to help architect and build the next-generation browser-based profiling platform. Through extensive UI design, workflow planning, and iterative alpha testing, we brought the upgraded software to market—offering customers a significantly improved, modernized user experience.
For several months, I reviewed customer complaints and software bugs via JIRA, collaborating with field service engineers to identify usability issues and feature gaps. I contributed to the design and integration of both legacy and new functionalities by drafting detailed UI and workflow documentation for the development team. This included iterative feedback loops with engineers to ensure field practicality. I led the design efforts for key modules such as the Selective Solder Integration, “Run a Profile,” and Process Window features, as well as the improved Common Recipe Finder—all aimed at streamlining the user experience and expanding core functionality.
Following each new alpha release, I worked alongside colleagues to thoroughly test software functionality, verify bug resolutions, and ensure that key customer complaints were addressed. I documented all issues and proposed improvements in detailed reports, which were submitted to the development team for implementation. This process played a critical role in refining the software prior to broader release.
After months of development and refinement, we officially debuted the new profiling software at APEX 2025. Alongside my colleagues, I conducted live demos for customers, showcasing key improvements—including the streamlined “Run a Profile” workflow. Compared to the older PS2G system, the new platform significantly reduced setup time and increased overall profiling speed, addressing a longstanding pain point for users in production environments.
